I definitely share my colleagues’ skepticism about ‘citizen journalism’ - it’s a great addition to our understanding of the world, but it could never replace professional journalism. Nonetheless, the era of Facebook and Flipboard has created an interesting dialectic; despite the doom and gloom, it’s a great time to be working in journalism.
